Steve was born in 1962 to Lyn and Bob Irwin. After his parents divorced, Steve was raised by his father. In 1991, he started the family company, called ‘Australia Zoo,’ which hosts 4 million tourists each year.
Steve Irwin became a naturalist and wildlife conservationist, to share his love of the natural world with children by helping educate them about how fragile the Earth was and how important it was to protect it.
Steve was best known for working with crocodiles, snakes, koalas, and all variety of plants and animals. He was married to his wife Terri Irwin, and together they had two children, Bindi and Robert.
Together they were best known as the “Crocodile Hunter”. He was born in Queensland, but grew up in Melbourne. He originally studied to become a veterinary surgeon, but after working with his uncle’s snakes for a time, his life changed. He loved jumping into the water to swim beside sharks
